What is Kyphosis?

Typically, the upper back has a slight natural curve which is meant to support the weight of the head and absorb shock. When the curve is larger than normal, it results in a condition called Kyphosis. This excessive curvature is commonly known as ‘round back’ or ‘hunchback’ because there is a visible hump on the upper back and/or an excessive rounding of the shoulders. Kyphosis leads to excess pressure on the spine that results in pain and added pressure on the lungs, resulting in breathing difficulty.
Reasons
Kyphosis can be the result aging, osteoporosis, spinal injury, scoliosis, weak muscles, or slipped discs.
